Why be worried about coming to the dentist if you don’t have to?
If you are nervous, anxious or simply needle phobic Intravenous (IV) sedation could be the answer you have been looking for.
IV sedation is an excellent way for people who find undergoing treatment difficult or find the thought of long treatments daunting.
Sedation, is not a general anesthetic, but induces a sleepy state of deep relaxation, with a feeling of not being perturbed by what’s going on. In addition to this patients may not remember much about their treatment as the sedation agent used also has a strong amnesiac effect.
It is important to remember that you will need to be escorted home after treatment, and have a friend or family member around to keep an eye on you; however, by the following day you will be able to return to work as normal.
Is it safe? – Yes, we have been providing sedation for over 20 years. All our practitioners are SAAD (Society for the Advancement of Anesthesia in Dentistry) trained and follow the General Dental Council guidelines for the provision of IV Sedation.
