Crowns

Crowns are a very successful option for repairing cracked, broken, decayed or heavily filled teeth. The natural tooth is reduced in size, and the crown is cemented into place over the top, thereby providing protection to the weak tooth underneath. Crowns are colour matched to the surrounding teeth and once in place will feel and look exactly the same as your natural teeth.

Crowns can be constructed of several different materials. Where the tooth is visible in the smile, the standard for many years, has been the porcelain bonded to semi precious metal crown, where a metal framework is constructed as a base and then tooth coloured porcelain is bonded to this providing the final natural tooth like appearance.

Improved strength and aesthetics are now provided by all-ceramic crowns (no metal framework for the ultimate in lifelike appearance).

The final colour matched crown will be indistinguishable from your natural teeth.
